Who would have thought, the creation of the MP3 format would have such a massive influence to the entire planet. It not only brought the music industry to it's knees, it changed how music would be made in future, how much money is made and by whom.
the record industry is no longer the purveyor of all things music, no longer are they the Gate Keeper, the fact is that the music industry no longer has teeth like it used too.
You no longer have to buy a CD, a piece of plastic, enclosed in plastic and paper, wrapped in plastic just to get one or two songs off that one album, you can now buy as many or as few songs from one album as you like, saving you money and the environment from more plastic waste.
You can stream as much music as you like for the same price as that one CD used to cost. For the same price as 10 song's from iTunes, you can listen to hundreds of hours of music from different artists, unsigned and labelled artists from across the world, and all on your phone.
Here is that story.
Part one: Napster
Part two: Strike back
Part three: On Demand
